Ilkley Literature Festival
I had the honour of working with Word Up North to illustrate the front cover for the 2025 Ilkley Literature Festival. I had such fun working on this! Creating quirky illustrations which we then refined down to a more mid-century modern Saul Bass-esque piece, which was pushed through across the marketing for the events.
The beginning…
The original brief was to have a pile of books, I could then pop the authors’ names on. I LOVE any chance to do a bit of hand-done type.
I definitly used my love of a good book and a cup of tea for inspiration…
…the middle…
After review, we decided to push the design down a more abstract route. I played around with ILF letters. Turning the pile of books into more angular shapes and having a flay lay, ready to be populated with the authors’ names.

The final product! There were about 15,000 printed, and they were displayed in bookshops, museums, cafes around Bradford, Ilkley, Leeds, North and West Yorkshire.
I gave the artwork to Word Up North, who also used it to create posters and social media posts!
